Profile
Chris Schramm returns to the Eastbourne Eagles as number eight for 2010, following his mid-season introduction last year. Schramm proved himself as a squad member by racing for the Eagles in place of injured Simon Gustafsson last season and, whilst not matching the powerful scoring of the Swedish Under 21, scored solidly at reserve. It was his impressive early-season form in the Premier League, however, that convinced the Eagles to introduce the British rider, Schramm eventually going on to post his highest career average in the sport’s second tier on the way to a treble with King’s Lynn. And, despite being squeezed out of the all-conquering Stars’ plans for 2010, his last-minute announcement as a heatleader for Workington makes him eligible to take a number eight berth in the Elite League, an opportunity which he has seized with both hands.
Entering his tenth season of Speedway, Schramm began racing for Peterborough at Conference League level, also taking rides with Berwick, Arena Essex and Reading before stepping up to the Premier League full time with Newport in 2003. Retaining an involvement with Oxford Speedway that had seen him take appearances for their Conference League team late on in July 2003, Schramm signed on for a second time in 2004, remaining full time in the Premier League alongside his commitments, although this time with Reading. He moved on once again in 2005, this time for Berwick, and he also enjoyed his first berth in the Elite League, as a number eight for
